Root canals have a reputation for being painful. Actually, most patients will tell you it is no more uncomfortable than getting a filling. Dr. Collura uses advanced technology to ensure root canal procedures are stress and pain-free as possible.

Signs to look for…

  • Recurring trouble with a tooth
  • Severe pain when you chew and apply pressure to it
  • Tooth severely sensitive to hot and/or cold
  • Swelling, tenderness or a bump on the gums near that tooth

If you experience any of these symptoms, you may be in need of a root canal.

The “root canal” is actually the hollow space within the root of the tooth. A root canal procedure removes the nerve (which may be dead if infected) and the pulp of the tooth. Once the area is cleaned and properly prepared, the tooth is protected with a crown that will prevent the tooth from fracture and ensure it’s longevity.
